I'm a parent who received the same letter but I only received it last Friday. My letter said it started Sept 1 (not sure who marked up your letter but mine was not). I even spoke with Ms Hindley on Friday and she said it was Sept 1. No one was in the preK office when I called. I emailed the director to clarify and she told me it was Sept 2.

I have an older child at Central and agree this timing is awful. The part about withdrawing your child is so insensitive as most programs open enrollment in November of the previous year and there are hardly any that would accept students at this time (unless someone has moved last minute).

I'd like to understand what the issues are because as a resident of the district there are no buses and now for older children you cannot pick them up by car. There should have been a meeting on this.

The communication has been terrible. I'm very disappointed. I'm going to write to Dr Shaps.

I am not surprised . In my opinion the Board and the Superintendent are out of touch with the community they serve and this is a perfect example of it They all probably come and go as they please and the assume everyone else does . They need an reality check

We are very lucky to live in a district that is able to offer a high quality Universal Pre-K program along with transportation. Please try to do all you can to support this program and the educators behind it. After teaching high school math, I truly believe that the way to help kids the most is to get them into Pre-K programs. I understand that a last minute change in timing is unfortunate and may seem inconsiderate. It seems to be linked to transportation issues. Perhaps families would have voted to eliminate transportation to allow the program to continue as scheduled. That is the letter that should be written. I am sure Dr. Shaps would consider that input while trying to accommodate the most children possible. Good luck. Before it was sold to an owner who stopped carrying much of what one went to the Larchmont Store to buy, most of which one would not buy on the internet today but would buy in a local store if we had one in which to buy it, The Larchmont Store was really an area anchor, visited by most everyone in Larchmont at least every few weeks, because it carried things one needed that no one else carried then, and that no one carries now. What we do not need is another real estate broker, or another bank.

Manor Beach is in full swing and with it come 100's of outsiders who leave their trash behind. Today, 2 blocks from the beach and outside my door, I found a discarded used diaper and a used condom, both on a main path to Manor Beach.

As if it weren't enough to deal with dozens of extra cars parking for WELL over the 4 hour limit without ever getting a ticket and so close to our intersections and driveways that we can't see around corners, now we have to deal with this.

It's DISGUSTING and the residents shouldn't have to clean up! This has been happening for years - enough is enough!

The Larchmont Police need to reinforce the parking regulations and deal with the trash.
